Career Information and Advice

WHAT ROLES DO OUR STUDENT TAKE ON AFTER THE MSc in PSYCHIATRIC RESEARCH?

We are currently collating information about the career paths our students have chosen after their MSc.  So far we have found that our students have moved into some of the following roles; clinical psychology training, research assistant; research officer, psychological therapist; research administrator, research consultant, PhD student, teaching, counselling psychology and lecturer.

Not everyone who chooses this course is looking for a new career. Many people choose our course to enhance their existing careers such as the psychaitrists who attend the course. (See some of our student comments for details).

What career advice and support do we offer our students?

As part of our Career Development programme, we invite senior and junior staff members to talk to our students about about how to develop and advance career paths within psychiatric research. We also encourage alumi  to come and talk to our students about how the MSc helped them in their chosen careers.
